What My Students Think About Our Class Blogging…
What: Survey results from my class of 6-7 year olds. Their response to using our class blog.
Why: I wanted to gather data to see what percentage of the class actively interacted with the class blog and how often. I also wanted to see what I could do better as an educator through the blog.
How: Students were given the survey in class. I read out the questions and helped them through it so they understood.
Results:
Feeling Statements 1-3:

Question 4:
- “Circle the 2 things that you like the most about the class blog.”

Question 5:
- “If you could choose, what would you like more of on the blog?”
The students said: *Our Art *More games *More jokes *More Maths games
Question 6:
- “I also liked….”

Question 7:
- “I didn’t like……”
The students said:

Question 8:
- “Circle the number that shows how you feel about the class blog.” (1=bad, 2=ok, 3=good, 4=great, 5=awesome)
5% rated it as a 4. 95% rated it as a 5.
Summary:
- I am convinced the majority of students enjoyed the blog and used it often.
- Many enjoyed the Maths games/links more than the Reading games/links.
- Mathletics was the favourite activity connected to the blog.
- In the future I will publish more of the students art on the blog and include links to other class blog sites.

Just had a meeting with ERO man> He wanted to know how we might assess the impact of ICT on teaching and learning. These things are difficult to address in terms of numerical data. Action research is something we could all do to address this. I want to learn more about how we might do this.

Allanah perhaps we need to form a collaborative effort. I am looking at doing Action research next year if my Cluster will allow me. Perhaps if we all combined heads, focused on a specific area, performed the research and combined data we could achieve some better results? At least talk about the best way to do the research…… Thanks for sharing.

I would be keen to do that. Marnie Thomas has done some good stuff with action research. She would be a good one to ask.
If I get to go to L@S or ULearn I hope there might be a workshop on action research.
Do you have any research or links about it. I will put out a tweet and see what people can come up with.

I have been wondering if it is possible to measure and also have this dilemma - what do we mean by achievement because just passing a test doesn’t mean someone is necessarily more intelligent than those with other ’smarts’…. I would like to be involved and do some brain bouncing about it. My principal had some interesting data to share with our BOT about our year 5 digial classes based on school tests etc. Keep me in the loop. And… happy new year!!
